CBD 101: Does CBD Oil Have THC?

When most people think of CBD products, they automatically assume they contain THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)—the cannabinoid responsible for the psychoactive properties of marijuana.

But is that really true? Do CBD products contain THC? Do they have intoxicating effects and do they have any side-effects?

We understand that you’d like a simple “yes” or “no” answer. But understanding the difference between CBD and THC can help you make a more educated decision.

So, does CBD oil have THC? Let’s take a look.

Both Are Extracted from the Cannabis Plant

Both, CBD and THC are extracted from the hemp plant. But they are two of the 133 cannabinoids present in the plant and are extremely different in their properties. THC is known for its intoxicating effects. It’s known for making the user high.

On the other hand, CBD does not get you high. It does not contain any psychoactive properties. Therefore, the chances of CBD oil getting you high are impossible.

THC Does Not Have any Medical Benefits

THC does not offer any medical benefits. CBD, on the other hand, is known for its medical properties.

It’s known for helping alleviate the symptoms of anxiety and depression. A study conducted by the New England Journal of Medicine concluded that CBD has anti-seizure properties and is excellent for those with disorders that trigger seizures.

Similarly, research shows that CBD is excellent for insomniacs because it tackles sleep-related problems and helps reduce levels of fatigue.

CBD is Legal

According to the 2018 Hemp Farm Bill, CBD products with less than 0.3% THC are legal. Because CBD and THC are cannabinoids from the same plants, CBD products have some traces of THC.

But products with less than 0.3% THC are safe to consume and do not have any intoxicating properties.

But if this is a concern for you, there are various CBD products that are made from pure CBD extract. They don’t contain any form of THC.
